Non-controversial and safe therapies

Adult stem cells offer a safe and non-controversial alternative to embryonic stem cells.

• These cells have the capacity to give rise to multiple different cell types. Therefore, they can be readily used in regenerative medicine to treat a number of diseases
  
• Unlike embryonic stem cells, they can be obtained conveniently from tissues such as the bone marrow, fat, and umbilical cord.
  
• Moreover, their genes are more tightly controlled. Thus, there is minimal risk of these cells going out of control and becoming cancerous (which is possible with embryonic stem cells).
  

No risk of rejection

The majority of our stem cell therapies are based on using autologous (the patient's own) stem cells. These cells can be obtained from any one of the number of easily accessible sources including bone marrow, umbilical cord and cord blood, fat and even the patient's blood. 

Use of autologous stem cells eliminates any risk of rejection.

We also have conducted the world’s second largest clinical trial for peripheral vascular occlusion (Buerger's Disease). These data have already been published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery (December 2008).
